Summer Camps

Send your child to a summer camp for children of hearing loss.
These camps are a great way to make friends.

Summer is a great time for making friends! Help your child find friends by sending him to a camp for children with hearing loss.

Summer camps usually range from a few days to around 2 months. And they can cost anywhere from $100 to more than $1,000. But some camps will let your child go for free, if you ask for help.

Check out these links to find a camp near you:

• Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center's list of summer camps for the deaf and hard of hearing.
• Youth Programs at Gallaudet University. This list includes academic and sports summer camps.
• The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing's list of summer camps for the deaf and hard of hearing.
  (Click on the name of the state you live in to find a camp near you.)
• The American Camping Association's searchable database for summer camps for children with hearing loss.
  (Choose "Hearing Impairment/Deaf" from the "Special Needs" menu.) This database lists camps that take children with other disabilities.
  It also lists camps that go all year round.
• Religion-based camps for deaf children and their families.
• Deaf camp is a week-long camp for Deaf children. There are scholarships available to cover the cost of the camp.
• KidsCamps.com's searchable database of Speech/Hearing Impairments Camps.

• SummerCamps.com's list of summer camps for children with Speech/Hearing disabilities.
