Explain safe and unsafe touch to your child:
Safe Touch is:
- Touch that feels good inside and out.
- Touch that makes you happy.
Unsafe Touch is:
- Touch that makes you uncomfortable.
- Touch that doesn't feel good.
- Touch that scares you.
- Touch that may come from someone you know or a stranger.
Confusing Touch is:
- Touch that feels both good and bad.
- Touch that feels different or weird.
Give examples about safe and unsafe touch
Talking about safe and unsafe touch can be confusing to a child:
- Tell your child examples of safe and unsafe touch.
- Safe Touch: Daddy hugs you when he comes home from work.
- Unsafe Touch: Uncle Bob tells you to sit on his lap. Then he rubs your butt and chest.
- Show him pictures of safe and unsafe touch.
- This will help him understand what safe and unsafe touch means.
Give instructions about what to do if someone touches them
Tell your child:
- What to do if someone touches him in an unsafe or confusing way.
- Where to go if someone touches him in an unsafe or confusing way.
- Who to tell if someone touches him in an unsafe or confusing way.
No, Go, Tell
Teach your child 'No, Go, Tell'. If your child feels that someone is touching him in an unsafe
or confusing way, he should:
- Say No: Tell the person that is touching him to stop.
- Go: Run away from the person immediately.
- Tell: Tell an adult that he trusts what happened.

- Listen carefully to what he says.
- Don't get angry in front of him. He may think you are angry with him.
- Get support and help immediately.
