Driving Safely

What should my teen know about when driving?
Driving is 95% based on vision. Because your teen cannot hear well, your child should look around a lot when he is driving. He needs to look out for

  • Ambulances
  • Fire trucks
  • Police cars
  • Children
  • Animals
  • Broken glass

There are things you can buy for your car that will tell your child a siren is going off. Go to the Able Data Website for more information. Scroll down to the 'Driving' section.

To drive safely, your teen must:

  • ALWAYS be alert.
  • ALWAYS drive safely and make sure to constantly look around in all directions.
  • ALWAYS wear a seat belt and make sure everyone else in the car is wearing seat belts.
  • ALWAYS tell you where he is going and how to contact him.
  • Contact you if he needs help.
  • Not sign in the car because it is distracting.
  • Know that you love him and want to see him come home safely.
