Choose a Career to Study

What kind of vocational school your child goes to depends on what type of job she wants. Talk with your child about what she likes and is good at.

  • Does your child want to work inside or outside?
  • Does your child want to get dressed up for work?
  • Does your child want to work with her hands or with technology?
  • Does your child want to work with others or alone?
  • Does your child want to travel?

To get more information, your child can ask:

  • Adults about the work they do and how they trained for their jobs
  • Teachers about jobs in the subjects they teach, like math and music
  • Counselors about career surveys and job placements
  • Vocational schools about their job programs
  • Vocational rehabilitation counselors about job training
