Choose a Vocational School

Every state has vocational schools. Some state schools for the deaf have vocational programs. Read this page to find out more about your options.

Some vocational and technical schools have better programs than others. Do some research to find out what program is best for your child:

  • Talk with your child's school counselor and teachers for ideas.
  • Visit vocational schools to find out what they're like.
  • Ask vocational schools to send you information about their programs.
  • Talk with your local Vocational Rehabilitation counselor.
  • Look on the web. For a list of technical schools by program and state, go to these websites:

Your child may want to go to a vocational school for the deaf.

  • Contact your state school for the deaf to see if they have any vocational training programs.

  • Once your child decides on a school to go to, it's time to apply!
